Obituary of DOUGLAS MOORE
DOUGLAS MOORE
July 2, 1951 – June 29, 2025
After a long and courageous battle with cancer, Douglas (Doug) Moore passed away peacefully at Seven Oaks Hospital on Sunday, June 29, 2025, just four days before his 74th birthday.
Doug was predeceased by his parents John and Margaret Moore; his sister Donna Hruda and his brother-in-law Ron Williams.
He leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories with his devoted wife Judith Moore; his sister Shirley Williams; his stepchildren Cindy (Garry) Baete, Brent (Amanda) Fabris, and Vicci (Dom) Parker. Doug will be lovingly remembered by his grandchildren Kristen (Keith) Hackewich, Michael (Brooke) Kolt and Cole Fabris; his great-grandchildren Olivia, Everett, Arthur, and Esme. He also leaves behind many cousins, nieces, nephews and dear friends.
Born on July 2nd, 1951, in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Doug displayed a natural curiosity for engineering from an early age. He was known to disassemble and reassemble various items, always eager to understand how things worked. This passion for mechanics led him to a fulfilling career as a Robotic Machine Operator at Imperial Cabinets.
Doug was also a creative soul. In his spare time he found joy in working with The Fantasy Theatre for Children, where he served as a Scenic Director. He and Judy often reminisced fondly about those artistic days, where Doug brought imaginative worlds to life on stage.
Doug and Judy spent many happy summers at the family cottage in LacLu, Ontario, where Doug’s love of water truly showed. An avid snorkeler and later a scuba diver, he delighted his grandchildren with the treasures he’d find beneath the surface. His enthusiasm for water activities was infectious—boat rides, kayaking adventures and tending to his fishponds were moments his grandchildren will cherish.
Doug had a special gift for connecting with children. Whether through music, fort building, storytelling or playing games, he was a beloved ‘Grampy’ whose playful spirit left an unforgettable mark on all who knew him. Watching him embrace grand-fatherhood was a true joy.
While our hearts are heavy with grief, we take comfort in knowing Doug is no longer in pain. His warmth, gentle soul and generous spirit will live on in our memories and in the lives he touched.
Until we meet again, Grampy—you are deeply loved and will be dearly missed.
We would like to thank everyone who took time to visit during Doug’s hospital stay. He cherished and looked forward to seeing each one of you. He especially adored his most recent visit with his niece Lynn, whom travelled a great distance to see him the week prior to his passing. A special thank you to all the nurses and doctors at CancerCare and Seven Oaks Hospital, Level 3, Unit 5 for all the support, guidance and unwavering care.
Memorial Service will be held on Monday, July 7, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street.
