Obituary of HENRY PATKAU
HENRY PATKAU
September 10, 1939 – June 18, 2025
Henry Patkau passed away suddenly on Wednesday, June 18, 2025 at St. Boniface Hospital at the age of 85.
Henry was predeceased by his parents Jacob Patkau and Elouise Martens; brothers Jacob, Nick, John and William; grand-daughter Kerri-Ann Kutzak; grand-son Julian Trombinski and nephews Gerald Patkau and John Falk.
Henry grew up on a farm in McCreary, Manitoba. He started working at Greyhound Bus Co. in 1967 as a driver and a driver instructor until his retirement in 2001.
He and his wife travelled extensively through the U.S. with a truck and a 5th-wheel. They also travelled to many Caribbean Islands as well as travelling to France where he visited his brother’s grave. His favorite places to visit were Key West and Hawaii which he got to visit again in January of this year.
Henry loved working in his garage fixing and restoring old cars, trucks and a tractor. Listening to Country and Gospel music. He also loved watching hockey and football.
For several years he was a volunteer at Austin’s Thresherman’s Reunion and he was getting ready to attend this July. He also enjoyed dining out for breakfast with friends and family.
Henry was a wonderful, kind, loving man, who will be sadly missed but will be in our hearts forever.
The family thanks the First Responders, staff at St. Boniface Hospital and Garry & Marian Perrett.
Funeral Service will be held on Monday June 30, at 11:00 a.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street. Visitation will be prior to the service from 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.
Pallbearers will be Russ Kutzak, Dennis Patkau, Dennis Patkau Jr,, Dale Patkau, Justin Kutzak and Jeff Reed. Honorary Pallbearer, Maurice (Moe) Todorchuk.
Flowers gratefully declined. Donations may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation in Henry’s memory.
