CHRISTINA TERESA BURZYNSKI

May 24, 1952 – June 3, 2025

With heavy hearts, the family of Christina (Chris) Burzynski announces the passing of their beloved sister, aunt and friend who passed away on June 3, 2025 at Concordia Hospital in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Christina was predeceased by her parents Andrzej (Andrew) and Janina (Jenny) Burzynski.  Left to cherish her memory are her siblings:  Donna (Chris Lever of Edmonton), Edward (Teresa), Richard of Toronto, Henry (Bernadette) and Susan of Vancouver.

 One of Christina's greatest joys was being a Ciocia (aunt) to her five nieces and two nephews who will miss her dearly; Vanessa Lever (Jason) of Vancouver, Andrea Lever (Ryan) of Toronto, Matthew Lever of New Zealand, Christopher Burzynski, Vanessa Burzynski (Jorge), Jessica Burzynski and Samantha Burzynski. Also sharing our loss are her dearest friends; Wenda, Joanne and Terry as well as her Aunt Caroline and an extended family of cousins. 

Born and raised in Winnipeg, Christina made her home in North Kildonan where many family gatherings were enjoyed to celebrate holidays, birthdays, and family reunions. Christina was a phenomenal cook and hostess. There was always lots of laughter, teasing, jokes, stories from our childhood, fabulous meals and of course, her favorite, lots of Bubbly. 

Chris was a Dangerous Goods Inspector with Transport Canada for 29 years. She was a respected member of their team and was instrumental in breaking the glass ceiling for female inspectors by fighting for women's equal pay for equal work in a male dominated profession. She was a trailblazer for women who followed in her footsteps. She loved to travel and enjoyed many trips while her health allowed her to. There were numerous girls’ trips to Fargo and Falcon Lake as well as Mexico, Palm Springs and Hawaii.  And the girls always celebrated their birthdays at The Keg.

The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to the staff at Concordia Hospital N3E (North-3-East) for their compassion, respect and kindness. 

A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, September 4, 2025 at 1:00 pm at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street, Winnipeg.

A private interment of her ashes to take place at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to one of Christina's favourite charities; Canadian Cancer Society-Manitoba Division, The Canadian Diabetes Association, Heart & Stroke Foundation of Manitoba or the Concordia Hospital Foundation.
