Obituary of ADAM CAREVIC
August 12, 1936 – June 2, 2025
Adam received his Master Diplomas as a Molder in foundry Work at the age of sixteen in 1953. He made castings from Iron, Brass, aluminum and lead. His work as a journeyman led him from his hometown of Pozega to the big city of Rijeka in the former Yugoslavia where he lived from 1953 – 1957. Rijeka is only 70 km from Italy and is also where he met his wife, Fedora. They have 4 children.
Adam had in mind to defect from the Communist regime and on February 7, 1957, became a political refugee in Italy. His wish was to emigrate to Canada and God granted his wish, arriving in Quebec on April 15, 1960. He and his family came to Winnipeg a few days later.
Adam worked for Peterson Foundries and then later was employed at Thor foundry, working for Frank Dyck (former MCAM member). When the foundry was sold to Teledyne Bell in 1980, Adam (a foreman) found himself out of work. He decided to go into Plumbing. He worked for Daplex Plumbing & Heating during his apprenticeship, getting his Journeyman papers on April 3, 1987 at the age of 51. He got his Contractors License and Adam’s Plumbing & Heating was born in 1989.
Adam has enjoyed his membership with MCAM and gives thanks to God for all the members of this association. He is honored to be a Pioneer. Bless you all and keep up the good work for this industry.
