CAROL LYNN MARIE MALMAS PALMER
November 1, 1949 - May 24, 2025
It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Carol Lynn Marie Malmas Palmer on Saturday May 24, 2025 at the age of 75 years at St. Boniface Hospital, Winnipeg, MB.
Carol was predeceased by her beloved husband Barry Palmer; her brothers Nels, Leonard, and Baby Malmas; father John; mother Emma; sisters Jenny, Sigrid, Esther, Lennea and brothers-in-law, Bill, George, Walter, and Graham; sister-in-laws Janet and Maxine.
Carol will be lovingly remembered but sadly missed by her daughters Beverly (Jeff), Barbara, Maria (James), Theresa (Steven), Lisa (Rick); grandchildren Erika, Kendra, Taylor, Maggie, Riley, Alexis, Carter, Nathaniel, Liam, Jacob and her sisters Elsie Murray (Morris), Signe Johnson, Alma Malmas. Also remembered by brother-in-law Jerry (Marian); stepchildren Cheryl, Mike (Joanne), Joe, Cathy (Jim) and step-grandchildren Ashley and Brittany. Carol will be missed by her canine companion Ozzy. She will also be missed by numerous relatives and friends.
Carol was born and raised in Meadows, MB and attended school in Rosser from grades 1 to 9. She then moved to Winnipeg and worked at T. Eaton’s Company. She worked as a bartender for many years for the Norvilla Motor Hotel until she found her calling in being a cook at a personal care home. She retired as a cook after 30 years from Maples Personal Care Centre.
She enjoyed sports (went to any and all games she was invited to), bingo, traveling and spending time with family and friends. She bowled in a 5-pin bowling league for many years. In her younger years she loved gathering with family and friends at the Meadows Community Hall for all types of celebrations.
After being blessed with five daughters from her first marriage she enjoyed being a mom but her greatest joy in life was being a Grandma. She felt blessed and honored to be considered an extra grandma to her grandchildren’s friends. Her house was always full of unexpected visits from her extra grandchildren. When she cooked she was happy to make extra for unexpected guests, which happened often. Her home was very welcoming.
Carol’s life was never easy but she dealt with every moment with grace and dignity.
Family would like to thank the staff at Concordia Hospital Urgent Care, SBGH Emergency, SBGH 5B. A special thank you to the staff of Riverview Stroke Rehabilitation Program and the Community Stroke Care Services for all their compassion and excellent care.
Funeral service will be held at St. Marks Lutheran Church, 600 Cambridge Ave, Winnipeg, MB. Time of service will be 12:30 p.m. on Friday May 30, 2025 with viewing prior to service. Interment to follow at Brookside Cemetery, 3001 Notre Dame Ave.
