Obituary of GEORGE KRYSCHUK
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of George Martin Kryschuk on May 21st, 2025, at St. Boniface Hospital at the age of 87. George passed away with his loving family by his side.
George was born on July 27, 1937, in Winnipeg to his parents Martin Kryschuk and Anna Tataryn. He was predeceased by his wife Christine Kryschuk and sister Mary Stanick. He will be cherished and deeply missed by his sons Brad (Leah) and Brent (Jodi); grandchildren Allison Bishop (Thomas), Noah (Haley Teichrib), Amy, Hanna; great grandson Elliot (son of Allison and Thomas); brothers-in-law Gerald Stanick and Jerry Lawrence (Grace). George will also be fondly remembered by his nieces, nephews, extended family, and many close friends.
After graduating Tec Voc High School, he worked in the printing business for a few years before moving to the Greater Winnipeg Gas Company (ICG) in the early 60’s. George’s career spanned over 30 years before retiring in 1998 as Health & Safety Manager. George and Christine were married on June 11th, 1960, and spent the next 63 years building their lives together. Their early years were spent exploring and enjoying life. The next chapters of their lives consisted of raising their two sons while continuing their life journey focused on love, family, and friendships.
George had many passions in life! He enjoyed cars, golfing, go-carting, cycling, curling, and skiing. He was a dedicated volunteer with the Winnipeg Police Service and Canadian Ski Patrol. However, the most important thing in the world to George was spending time with his family and friends. Getting together for special occasions or informal gatherings was especially important to George and were the source of his most cherished memories and heartwarming speeches.
The family would like to express our profound gratitude to the doctors, nurses, and staff at CancerCare Manitoba, Access River East Medical Care, Concordia Hospital and St. Boniface Hospital for their compassionate care. Special thanks to nephew Marshall and wife Gwen Lawrence for all their support during these difficult times with both George and Christine. As well, a heartfelt thanks to the extended family and friends for their tremendous and loving support.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, May 29th at 10:00 am at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street, Winnipeg, Manitoba.
In lieu of flowers, donations honouring George’s memory can be made to CancerCare Manitoba or the Canadian Ski Patrol Red River Zone (cheque: Red River Zone, 64 Frontenac Bay, Wpg, MB R2J 2H, E-transfer: Colette Asselin, Finance Officer at ricol@mymts.net).
