Obituary of WARREN WILLIAM OSTIFICHUK

WARREN  WILLIAM  OSTIFICHUK

January 8, 1959 – May 17, 2025

It is with profound deep sadness, that our family must announce the passing of our dearly beloved Warren William Ostifichuk.  Warren was cherished by many as a son, brother, father, grandfather, uncle, great-uncle and cousin.

The beautiful soul of Warren William Ostifichuk passed away peacefully at Deer Lodge Center.  During his final days, he was most lovingly surrounded by his family, and was never alone.  Born in Winnipeg, Manitoba on January 8, 1959, Warren was the beloved son of the late Edna Theresa and Peter William Ostifichuk.

Warren will be deeply missed, and forever remembered by His siblings Karen D’Avanti (Gino), Darrell Ostifichuk (Arlene), Brian Byrd, Sheila Rusnak (Kevin);  His partner Ann Paul;  His son Grant;  His daughters Mandy, Rochelle, and Leanne;  His grandchildren Maddy and Lucas;  His nieces and nephews Gina (Bruce), Angela (Darcy), Michael (Kellie-Mae), Marco, Adam (Karlee), Robert (Samantha), Kristen (Cerys), and Trevor;  as well as many great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins.  Warren was Predeceased by his father Peter in April 1990, and his mother Edna in April 2020.

Warren grew up in Fort Rouge and attended Riverview Elementary and then Churchill High School.  He continued on to Red River College graduating with his Auto Mechanic certification.  He spent most of his career working at Bob’s Transmission and then Mister Transmission until his health no longer allowed him to work.  He had a lifelong love of classic cars and was always tinkering under the hood.  His pride and joy was a 1975 Buick Free Spirit.  He and his friends would cruise around The Rouge in his ‘65 Pontiac Parisienne 2+2, aka the “Plow Mobile” for how it powered thru snow like nothing.  Warren spoke fondly of his ‘67 Catalina, and also had a ‘74 little green Datsun.

In his youth, Warren and his brother Darrell often helped their father at a fishing camp in Dawson Bay building fishing boxes and working in the ice house.  He spent countless weekends fishing in Selkirk, just like his dad.  A memorable time was when Warren and Darrell took their father’s ashes for a final fishing trip to one of his favorite fishing spots in Selkirk.

Warren loved watching cartoons with his children when they were young and continued to enjoy them as an adult.  His favorite characters were the Swedish Chef and Animal from The Muppets.  He did a great impersonation of the Swedish Chef.  He loved to watch hockey and was a devoted Philadelphia Flyers fan.  He took great pleasure in walking or biking and thoroughly enjoyed the outdoors.

Warren touched the lives of many with his utmost kindness and gentle spirit.  His smile could light up any room and he would give you the shirt off his back or his last dollar.  The memories of Warren that all his family and friends hold near and dear will always hold a special place in our hearts forever.  We would like to thank the wonderful staff at Tower 3 South, Deer Lodge Center for taking great care of him, especially such compassionate care during his final days.

Warren's Celebration of Life will be Monday May 26, 2025 at 1:00 pm at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street, Winnipeg MB.  He will be laid to rest beside his mother, at St. Mary’s Polish National Cemetery 400 McIvor Avenue.
