Obituary of EDWARD HOWARD FINLAY
EDWARD HOWARD FINLAY
October 18, 1949 – April 23, 2025
Ed Finlay passed away peacefully in his sleep at home in Snow Lake, Manitoba, on Wednesday, April 23, 2025, at the age of 75.
Ed was born and raised in Portage la Prairie, one of thirteen siblings.
He spent his life working as a heavy-duty mechanic, a career he was proud of. He started his own garage in Thompson, Manitoba before joining HBM&S in Snow Lake, where he worked until his retirement after more than 25 years of service.
Ed had four children; Tammy, Connie (deceased), Garnet and Shay. He was a proud grandfather and great grandfather.
A true outdoorsman, Ed found joy in the wilderness year-round. Whether fishing, hunting, quadding, or skidooing, he was most at home in nature.
Above all, Ed deeply loved his late wife Barb, his children and his grandchildren. His quiet strength, resourcefulness and deep connection to nature will be missed by all who knew him.
At this time, there will be no formal service.
In memory of Ed, please take a moment to step outside—go for a walk, cast a line, watch the sunset or simply breathe in the fresh air—and think of him.
