Obituary of JOYCE STEPANENKO
JOYCE STEPANENKO
August 19, 1938 – May 3, 2025
Joyce Stepanenko sadly passed away on Saturday May 3, 2025 with family by her side at Winnipeg Health Sciences Centre at age 86.
She was predeceased by her husband Victor Stepanenko, parents Mike and Elsie Wladyka. Joyce is lovingly remembered by her children Roman, Lorisa (Peter), Boris (Olga), Nadia and Zena (Mike); grandchildren Joey, Grant (Caylie), Tammy (Mike), Sheena, Melissa, Rhonda, Janine, Justin, Matthew (Katie), Jeffrey, Brittney (Tobias); several great grandchildren and her siblings Anne, Sonia and Larry.
Joyce was born in Angusville, MB on August 19, 1938. She moved to Winnipeg where she met Victor and spent her early married life in Winnipeg then moved to Tolstoi, MB, where she raised her children and helped her husband run their farm. She moved back to Winnipeg where she was employed as a health care aide up until retirement.
Joyce’s “happy place” was at her campground at Veselka near Gimli, MB. She enjoyed puzzles, painting stones with flowers and ladybugs and feeding the cats and birds. She enjoyed her coffee while swinging on the deck in the mornings. Joyce always enjoyed dancing, music and singing.

A private family burial will take place on Thursday May 8, 2025 at Glen Eden Memorial Gardens, 4477 Main Street, West St. Paul, officiated by Fr. Gene Maximiuk.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a charity of one’s choice in Joyce’s memory.
