I am so unbelievably saddened to hear that Mel’s beautiful life has been cut so short. My condolences going out to all of her family especially her daughter and husband. I worked with Mel at the province of Manitoba office and she was the first and only friend I made there that did not know my mom first. She always made me laugh, we took our coffee breaks together and lunch. One of my favourite memories of her is she would come to the legion next door to our work and from time to time I would put a twenty in a machine and she would always just sit next to me and watch. She thought this one game was hilarious because the voice sounded so seductive and she would mock it. She accepted me just the way I was and never passed judgement. She had the most beautiful kind heart that I will never forget. I wish we had not drifted after she left the office. When my dad passed in 2018 she messaged me we chatted a bit and I told her how stuck I felt and her exact words (copy and pasted) were “ But please live! Live for your Dad! Breathe and do what you can for him! Grieve now! But know, that I’m guessing no doubt in my mind he would want you to keep going! Xoxoxo hugs forever!” I felt that rather fitting even though it may not seem that way right now, I hope her words give you some comfort. Sending you all my thoughts.
