Ronald Herbert Roccola passed away peacefully with family by his side on April 22, 2025 at the age of 91.  

He was predeceased by parents Fred and Nellie and his infant son Jordan. 

Ron is lovingly remembered by his wife Gloria, children Blake (Barb), Steve (Shelly), Joelle (Kelly) and Nicole (Jason). Grandchildren Roxanne, Kristen and Ryan (Mom Seetta), Sam (Dad Rocky), Chloe and Charlie. Sister in-law Hope, Niece Shelley (Gary) and Nephew Shawn (Pam).

Ron was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, and raised in Red Lake, Ontario. At the age of 19, he returned to Winnipeg, the city that would become his lifelong home.

In 1955, Ron married the love of his life, Gloria. Together, they shared 69 and three-quarters wonderful years together. An only child himself, Ron always dreamed of having a large family. They had 5 children, each of whom he adored and cherished deeply.

Ron’s career began in the gold mines of Red Lake from 1951 to 1954. He went on to dedicate 38 years to MTS, starting in cable installation and rising to the role of key account manager. After retirement, Ron volunteered with the MTS pioneers. 

Ron was a longtime member of St. Anthony’s Church where he served on numerous committees and proudly became the Charter Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus Council No. 10569.

A man of many talents and interests, Ron found joy in carving wood spirits. He lived life actively, participating in a variety of sports including football, curling, golf, cross-country skiing, and sailing. He was a respected leader in the Archery community, serving as Manitoba’s coordinator and contributing significantly to the sport’s growth. 

Ron will be remembered for his steadfast devotion to family, his strong sense of community, and his vibrant love for life. His legacy lives on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. 

The family especially thanks the staff at Grace Hospital. 

A funeral service will be held on Monday, April 28, 2025 at 10:30 a.m. at St Anthony’s of Padua Church,  250 Burrin Ave.
