ELIZABETH DAWN HAZELWOOD

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Elizabeth Dawn Hazelwood on Sunday April 13, 2025 at the age of 59. 

Beth passed away peacefully with the love of her life Shawn Bacon by her side. She was a loving and devoted fur Mom of Rio, Mpenzie, Nina and Star. They will miss her deeply along with her family Sharon and Barry Stasynec, Melanie and Hudsen Stasynec and Gary Werhun. As well as her favorite nephew Donald Singbeil and his wife Lily and special friend Michelle Scebenski. Beth was predeceased by her parents Dora (nee Burkett) and Sid Hazelwood and are now reunited in eternal rest.

Beth’s home in St. Vital was the exact home she grew up in where many memories were made throughout the years. She enjoyed summers at Nutimik Lake as a child and spent a lot of time out there as an adult taking care of her parents.

She had a long standing career at Manitoba Public Insurance and as a proud activist for many of those years with her union MGEU ensured the betterment of all in the workplace. She successfully retired a few years back.

Beth was known for her carefree attitude and generous heart spending many hours volunteering at various places throughout her life, always willing to help a friend in need. Her happy place was Pharr Texas where she spent many winters and made numerous friends. This special place is also where she met Shawn.  

A thank you to all the staff of St. Boniface hospital for the support given to Beth during the past few months while in care.

In accordance with Beth’s wishes, there will be no service held. If friends so desire, donations in her name can be made to an animal charity of your choice as she loved all animals. A private family celebration will be held at a later date.
