Obituary of KATHRYN JOETTE TURPLE
KATHRYN JOETTE TURPLE (NÉE SCHEIRER)
June 29, 1954 – April 9, 2025
With heavy hearts and deep love, we announce the passing of Kathryn Joette Turple at 70 years of age, of Fort Frances, Ontario on Wednesday April 9, 2025. She left this world peacefully, surrounded by family and friends who cherished her beyond measure. Kathy-Jo, as she was affectionately known, was born on June 29, 1954, in Fort Frances, Ontario, the beloved daughter of Arthur and Margaret Scheirer (née Miketey).
After graduating from Fort Frances High School in 1972, Kathy moved to Toronto to pursue her studies in Dental Hygiene at the University of Toronto. She loved her work and was proud of her career, but her most treasured role began in 1984 with the birth of her son, Cody.
Kathy had a heart as big as her laugh—warm, welcoming, and always ready to lift others up. She found joy in the everyday: tending to her garden, baking something sweet, preparing a meal with love, or floating in her backyard pool with her dogs close by. Her home was a gathering place, especially in the summer, where friends and family came together and always left feeling cared for, fed, and loved.
She lit up when talking about her grandchildren and never missed a chance to be part of their lives. Her favourite spots—Nick’s Inn for Sunday brunch or The Keg for a family dinner—weren’t just places to eat, but places filled with stories, laughter, and memories made.
Kathy had a unique and unforgettable way of making people feel seen and special. She was stylish, wise, compassionate, and down-to-earth. Her presence was calming and uplifting—she gave so much of herself, without ever asking for anything in return.
She leaves behind a family who adored her; her son Cody Turple; her daughter Samantha Turple and her precious grandchildren Jacqueline and Philip Kives. They will carry her memory in all they do, forever guided by her love.
In honour of Kathy’s generous spirit and the courage she showed throughout her journey, donations may be made to CancerCare Manitoba Foundation.
