Obituary of INES FIGUEIREDO CABRAL
Ines Figueiredo Cabral
1942 – 2025
Ines at the age of 82, passed away peacefully with her son Jose Cabral and her brother Jose Braga by her side on Thursday April 10, 2025 at Riverview Health Center in Winnipeg, Manitoba.
Ines was born April 18, 1942 in Santa Maria, Acores to parents Filomena Soares (December 10, 1916 – January 21, 2005) and Antonio Figueiredo (April 14th, 1914 – August 4th, 1947). Ines married her Honey, Manuel Sousa Cabral on November 25, 1960. They were married 52 years before Manuel preceded her in death on October 8, 2012. Ines, Manuel and their son Jose, immigrated to Canada in 1966. They first lived in Saskatoon Saskatchewan for 5 years before permanently settling in Winnipeg. Ines worked in housekeeping at the Health Science Center for 24 years, and often spoke of how much she loved working there and made lifelong friends as well. Ines was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, auntie, and friend to so many.
Ines is lovingly remembered by her son Jose Figueiredo Cabral and his wife Rhonda Simone Murray Cabral; her 2 grandsons that she adored, loved beyond measure, and had a standing Swaka game date with every Sunday, Jose Vasco Simao Cabral (18 years) and Rocco Manuel Ramon Cabral of 16 years.
Ines leaves her sister Maria Moreira, married to Antonio Moreira who passed away October 28, 2006; her nephews Manuel Moreira (Lisa) and great niece Christina, Joe Moreira; great nephews Andrew, Joe, Jeremie Craig; great niece Ashley and Antonio Moreira who passed away June 4, 2021; great nephew Anthony and great nieces Amanda and Maria. Ines also leaves her brother Jose Braga and his wife Maria Braga; nephew Antonio Braga (Eleni) her great niece Ariana and great nephew Antonio, Steve Braga (Melissa) and niece Sally Furtado (Mitch); and great nephews Jacob and Noah, all of Boston Massachusetts.
Ines is also survived by her brother-in-law Jose Cabral and his wife Maria Cabral; her nephews David Cabral, Dean Cabral (Janet); great nephews Dylan Cabral, Jagger Cabral (Alicia) and their children Mazen and Jules; great niece Savannah Copp (Riley); nephew Brian Cabral (Cara) and great nephews Braxton, Caelum and Aydan, all of Winnipeg, Manitoba. Ines was affectionately called Tinaj by her nieces and nephews and had special relationships with each of them.
The family especially would like to thank the wonderful people at St. Boniface Hospital and Riverview Health Center for the exceptional and respectful care given to Ines during her time there.
Prayers will be held Monday April 21, 2025 at 7:00 p.m. and a Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated on Tuesday, April 22, 2025 at 12:00 p.m. with Father Andre Lico presiding. Both will be taking place at Immaculate Conception Parish at 181 Austin Street North, Winnipeg, Manitoba. Please join the family and friends for a reception at the Immaculate Conception Parish after the service.
