Obituary of WALLY WALLACE FIDDLER
WALLY WALLACE FIDDLER
October 14, 1949 – April 14, 2025
Wally Fiddler passed away peacefully at the Middle Church Home of Winnipeg on Monday April 14, 2025 at the age of 75 years.
Wally was predeceased by his first wife Mandy and baby girl; second wife Charlotte Mamakeesie; parents Naham and Jemima Fiddler; brothers John Kelly Fiddler, Timothy Fiddler and David Fiddler.
Wally Wallace Fidler is lovingly remembered by son Russell Fiddler.
Wally also leaves his brothers Johny Meekis (Margie Meekis) and John Fiddler as well as numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
In the late 1960’s, Wally worked at the Gold Mines in Cochenour just near Red Lake, Ontario. He started a family with his first wife Mandy. Their baby daughter passed away suddenly and soon after Mandy her mother passed as well.
Wally moved back to Sandy Lake working odd jobs in the community.
The local CBC radio station had opened up in the early 1970’s and Wally worked there as a programmer. He also volunteered many hours at the radio station.
Wally had a lot of friends. Many have gone on their spirit journey. He was loved by all by his silly actions that made people smile and laugh. Wally did many things for his home community of Sandy Lake.
Wally never complained about anything, even right up to the moment he left us. He enjoyed life to the fullest and appreciated all that was done for him. His sincere smile and laugh can still be heard today.
Wally’s favourite nephew Rudy Fiddler has been close to him since he has been in a home in Winnipeg. Rudy has always been very supportive in anyway that he could.
The family would like to thank Middle Church Home with their staff and nurses that were looking after Wally. They would also like to acknowledge Cropo Funeral Chapel for their work, preparation and services.
Many thanks to all the ladies that are preparing for Wally’s return home, to the Chief and Council for their support to the family as well as to the community at Sandy Lake for all their help and support. Rest in peace Wally.
Mass of Christian burial to be held on Saturday April 19, 2025 @ 12 noon St. Bernadette’s RC parish in Sandy Lake, Ontario. Graveside burial to take place afterwards at the Sandy Lake Community Cemetery. Visitation / Wake will be held prior to Saturday’s church service – contact family for details.
