Obituary of ISABEL SANDISON
ISABEL SANDISON
January 24, 1930 – April 14, 2025
Isabel Sandison passed away on Monday April 14, 2025 at the age of 95.
She is survived by her daughters Elaine Repchinsky and Pat Ross; grandsons Colin Repchinsky, Derek Ross, David Ross and son-in-law Gord Ross. She is predeceased by her husband William (Bill) Sandison; son-in-law Michael Repchinsky; sister Elizabeth (Betty) Murray; brother Doug Hamilton and parents Mary and Jim Hamilton.
Isabel was born on January 24, 1930 and grew up in the neighbourhood of Weston in Winnipeg. She attended Cecil Rhodes High School and worked after school at various jobs until finding her dream job as a teller at the Imperial Bank of Canada. Isabel always enjoyed working with numbers. She left the bank after the birth of her children and, once they were grown, worked part-time in the Accounts Department at Hudson’s Bay.
Isabel and Bill married on March 28, 1952 and lived happily together for 53 years until Bill’s passing in 2005. They enjoyed travelling and took numerous trips to California to visit Isabel’s sister, brother, nieces and nephews, as well as trips to Hawaii and New York with friends from the Winnipeg Fire Department. Their trips to China and Scotland were fondly remembered and talked about frequently. Isabel enjoyed having dinner with her “girl’s club” and going with them on weekend trips to Fargo and Grand Forks. Isabel belonged to a 10 pin bowling league for many years and was an avid fan of the Winnipeg Jets. During a day at home, she could often be found in the kitchen with the AM radio tuned to CJOB or CBC and a crossword puzzle and pencil in hand.
Isabel moved to Riverview Health Centre in May 2024. The family thanks all of the staff, Home Care workers, nurses and doctors for the wonderful care they provided.
A private family ceremony will be held at Brookside Cemetery for the interment of Isabel’s ashes. After many years apart, she will rejoin her husband Bill and their beloved dog, Maggie.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Isabel’s memory to a charity of your choice.
