Obituary of TJAART JOHANNES JANSEN VAN RENSBURG

In Loving Memory of Tjaart Johannes Jansen Van Rensburg

Beloved Husband, Father, Grandfather, and Friend

August 21, 1962 – April 8, 2025

The world lost a remarkable soul with the sudden passing of Tjaart Jansen Van Rensburg on April 8th, 2025, at the age of 62. Surrounded by the love of his family at St. Boniface Hospital,

Tjaart passed peacefully, leaving behind a legacy built on strength, wisdom, and unwavering love.

To know Tjaart was to love him — and to be loved by him was to know safety, joy, and the kind of support that never wavered. He was a devoted husband, a proud and loving father and grandfather, and a cherished friend. He gave without asking, protected without pause, and loved without limits. He was a pillar of quiet strength and steady compassion — a man whose presence alone could calm a storm and whose love could move mountains.

Born in Vanderbijlpark, Transvaal, South Africa, on August 21st, 1962, Tjaart lived a life of great purpose. He was a professional rugby player and a well-known Detective Sergeant in the South African Police — but his proudest title was husband to his beloved Mariana, the love of his life and soulmate. Together, they raised two beautiful daughters, Melissa and Marie, and bravely made the life-changing decision to move across the world to build a future in Canada. They eventually settled in Winnipeg, Manitoba, where they built a home full of laughter, strength, and unconditional love.

Tjaart was the kind of man who led with his heart. His family was his world, and he devoted himself fully to their safety, happiness, and success. Even when sick, he never missed a day of work, driven by an unwavering desire to provide. He was a hands-on father who raised his daughters to be strong, independent women and had a soft spot that meant he could never say no to them. As a grandfather, he was a constant source of joy and security, never missing a chance to spoil his grandsons Carter, Isaac, and Dustin.

Whether offering a quiet word of encouragement, sharing a hearty laugh, or giving a bear hug that made you feel indestructible, Tjaart made those around him feel seen, heard, and valued. He believed in living honestly, helping selflessly, and always putting family first.

Tjaart had a brilliant mind and a curious spirit. He was a lifelong learner who soaked up knowledge through reading, and always had the answers — especially before anyone thought to check Google. He knew everything from history to cars, nature to religion, and passed hiswisdom on to anyone lucky enough to listen. His career reflected his leadership and integrity, spending half his lifetime as the Production Manager at Burnbrae Farms.

Outside of work, Tjaart found joy in the simple things: camping, boating, quadding, fishing, barbecuing, and sipping his beloved "tea". He appreciated the beauty of the wilderness and the power of a good laugh. He had a joke for every moment, a smile for every room, and a kindness that left an imprint on everyone he met.

Tjaart was predeceased by his parents, Gys and Ansie. He is lovingly remembered and forever missed by his wife Mariana, daughters Melissa and Marie, grandchildren Carter, Isaac, and Dustin, brother Willem, sisters Antoise and Corne, and many nieces, nephews, extended family, and dear friends.

If you had the honour of knowing him, you know this to be true: Tjaart was strong, humble, generous, brave, protective, patient, inspiring, and endlessly respectful. His legacy lives on in every story told, every life touched, and every act of love inspired by his memory.

Thank you, Tjaart, for being our rock, our hero, our heart. We will carry your love with us always.

As per Tjaart's wishes, there will be no funeral service. A private viewing will be held for family on April 14th, 2025, at 1:00 p.m., followed by a viewing for close friends at 2:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street.
