LESLEY OWENS

Obituary of LESLEY ANN OWENS

LESLEY ANN OWENS (nee SHOTBOLT)

May 8, 1947 – April 6, 2025

It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Lesley Owens on Sunday April 6, 2025 at the age of 77.

Lesley was a devoted mother and cherished grandmother. Her memory will be celebrated by her 2 sons Kurt Owens (Tracy Stasynec) and grand-dog Wiser, Tony Owens (Katie Stephenson) and grandchildren Will & Chloe. She is also remembered by her sister Linda Jorgenson (Alan) and family and brother Gary Shotbolt and family.

Lesley was predeceased by her parents Ray and Frankie Shotbolt and husband Terry Owens and are now reunited in eternal rest.

Lesley was known for her boundless love, warmth and unwavering devotion. Lesley’s family was the center of her world, and she poured her love and energy into nurturing and supporting them. She lovingly referred to Kurt & Tony as “my boys” and they shared an unbreakable bond that was strengthened even more after they were faced with the devastating loss of Terry at a young age. Through Lesley’s strength they overcame heartbreak and she instilled a strong sense of family and community.

Lesley’s home was the very same home she grew up in and it became a sanctuary for many as she always welcomed friends and family.   Her Sunday dinners were a highlight for all those that had the joy of being there. She loved to cook and showed her love through the warmth of her dinner table. Her famous salads rivalled those of a professional chef. Lesley was a devoted hockey mom from the beginning and stepped in to coach her boys at ages 7 and 8.  A challenge she embraced and she lead them to a championship victory.

Lesley will be deeply missed by her grandchildren Will & Chloe, who will forever hold dear the memories of her love and support.  She never missed a hockey, baseball or soccer game. She was their #1 fan and watched with pride as they followed their dreams.

In true Lesley fashion, she dedicated her career to taking care of others as a respite provider for individuals with special needs. She was deeply committed to advocating for children and cherished her career. Upon retirement, Lesley enjoyed spending time in Victoria with the many friends that became her family.

Lesley confronted her struggles with remarkable strength. Throughout this time, she never indulged in self-pity; instead, she embraced each challenge and prioritized the well-being of her sons.  All while maintaining a sense of humour to lighten the burden. Despite her diligent efforts and meticulous planning, she encountered an unexpected obstacle.

Her last years were bravely spent doing the things that mattered most to her.  Watching hockey games and regular morning phone calls with a dear friend; shopping, Christmas planning (starting in July), cooking, going for drives and laughing with her boys. We will cherish her memory, hold her in our hearts and remember her always.

In accordance with Lesley’s wishes, there will be no service held.

A private family celebration will be held at a later date.
