MARIE LOUISE WOWRYK
(nee EWANYSHYN)
August 28, 1942 – April 6, 2025
Marie Wowryk, loving mother and Baba passed away quietly on Sunday April 6, 2025 at the Park Manor Care Home at the age of 82.
Marie was born on August 28, 1942 in Oakburn Manitoba to parents Nicholas and Caroline Ewanyshyn. She lived in Oakburn until grade 12, at which time she attended Wheat City Business College in Brandon. After graduating, she moved to Winnipeg where her and Nester started their lives together. They were married on May 18, 1963, in Oakburn. Together they had 3 beautiful children. In 2006, Marie retired from the Manitoba Clinic as a medical transcriptionist to spend time with her grandchildren, as she was very involved in their lives.
Marie had a passion for curling and curled in various leagues. She was a big Blue Bombers fan and had a love for gardening. She was an active member of the St. Michael’s Parish Ukrainian Catholic Women’s League of Canada and was active in making perogies and working the kitchen for “Baba’s Kitchen”. Marie loved having the family over for dinner and spending time together.
Marie is survived by her loving husband Nester of 61 years, her children Kevin (Tamara), Laurie (Mike), and Michelle (Keith). Marie was Baba to Noah, Reed, Daisy, Riley and Chloe. She is also survived by her brother Len (Glenda) and nieces Jill and Nicole and their families.
The family sincerely thanks Park Manor Care Home and their wonderful staff while caring for Marie these last few months.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to Cancer Care Manitoba in Marie’s honor.
A funeral will be held on Saturday April 12, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel at 1442 Main Street, Winnipeg. A Cremation has taken place.
