MARIA ROSA RIBEIRO

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Maria Rosa Ribeiro on March 22, 2025, at the age of 88.

Rosa was born on Oct 17, 1936 in Porto, Portugal to parents Domingos Carvalho Araujo and Rosa Augusta.

She met her beloved husband in her younger years in Portugal. In 1968 she moved to Winnipeg with her husband and daughter and within a few months, had her second daughter.

Rosa worked at Eaton’s and later, when she retired, she enjoyed spending time with her husband, family and friends.  She enjoyed reading, baking, sewing and especially gardening in her spare time.

Rosa was a kind, loving partner to her husband Domingos, as well as an amazing mother to her daughters Luxa and Esmenia.

She was known for her strong will, determination, silly sense of humour and big heart. She always gave her love and support to her family and friends.

Rosa was predeceased by her; parents Domingos and Rosa, husband Domingos,  sister Amelia and sister-in-law Irene Rocha.

Rosa will be sadly missed by; daughters Luxa and Esmenia, sister Felisberta Soares,  brother Ze Ribeiro, sister-in-law  Lurdes Ribeiro, brother-in-law Tony Rocha, Sons-in-law Jose, Carlos and Yusuf; grandchildren Paul, James, Brian (Chynna), Sarinna and  Anthony; great grandchildren Aiden,  Daniel, Rosalie and  Zara; nieces and nephews and all family and friends.

The family will be holding a memorial service and cremation will take place in accordance with Rosa’s wishes.
