Obituary of BEVERLEY MAE BOYD
BEVERLEY MAE BOYD
February 17, 1948 – March 19, 2025
Beverley Mae Boyd, age 77, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, March 19, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. She is now our angel in heaven, reunited with Dick and those she loved.
Beverley was a devoted wife, loving mother, proud grandmother, cherished sister, and a dear friend. She was also a straight-shooting aunt, always ready with a firm opinion on sports. Her beloved dog, Abby, will be missing her dearly.
Beverley grew up in Roland, Manitoba. She completed her nursing degree, and later married Dick in 1972. They built their life together in Portage la Prairie, raising their family in the warmth of a small-town community.
Beverley is fondly remembered for her love of cooking, always preparing homemade meals and setting a beautiful dinner table. Beverley also had a green thumb, tending to her flower garden where daisies, lady slippers and Apple Blossom begonias thrived. Beverley and Dick enjoyed cheering on the Blue Bombers (or Roughriders, depending on the season) and never missed a Jets hockey game. Many of their fondest memories were made on the road, traveling for ringette, hockey, and baseball tournaments. Curling was her true favorite—she loved nothing more than sipping a spicy Caesar while analyzing her top picks. In retirement, Beverley and Dick found joy in their summer retreat at Riding Mountain. They spent countless hours sipping coffee and wine, barbecuing, pontooning and long country drives. Beverley loved animals and nature. Over the years, she had many beloved pets—cats, budgies, and, of course, her dogs.
Mom, we promise to look after each other and to live as the people you raised us to be. Even in your final days, you remained brave—making your own decisions, smiling, and cracking jokes despite it all. Alice and Anne believe Grandma is now in Hawaii, sun-tanning with Grandpa. “Aloha, Bev!”
Our family is deeply grateful to those who provided the care that allowed Mom to maintain her independence and dignity throughout her journey. In her honor, donations may be made to the Humane Society or Manitoba Lung Association.
In celebration of Beverley’s life, a graveside service will be held in late spring 2025.
