It is with immeasurable sadness that we announce the passing of Cornelis Henricus Maria (Casey) van Gorp, in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, on March 28, 2025, at the age of 91 years old.

Casey was born on July 8, 1933, the third of five children, to Johannes van Gorp and Anna van Gorp (nee Broers), in the city of Tilburg, Netherlands. In April 1949, the van Gorp family immigrated to their new home in Canada, working on a farm in St. Eustache, Manitoba. Shortly thereafter, the family purchased a dairy farm in Ile des Chenes, Manitoba which was Casey's home for more than 43 years. On the farm, he took great pride in caring for his animals as well as his wife and two sons.

Casey was a loving son, brother, husband, father, opa and friend. Many people have said “he's the nicest man I’ve ever met." His kindness, intelligence, gentle sense of humour and positive outlook in hard times were inspiring to those who knew him. 

Casey will be missed immensely by his family, friends and loved ones. He is predeceased by his beloved wife Nellie and is lovingly remembered by his son Casey Jr and daughter-in-law Kate, son Trevor and partner Jolene, his grandchildren, Sophie and Ben, and his brothers, Peter, Walter, and Adri, sister Joanne (deceased), as well as his siblings-in-law, nieces, nephews and friends.

A celebration of Casey’s life will be held at Cropo Funeral Chapel in Winnipeg, Manitoba on Saturday, April 12 at 10:00 am.
