Obituary of NANCY KOPYS
NANCY KOPYS
(nee DANYLYSHEN)
December 28, 1933 - March 20, 2025
Our mother, baba and great-grandmother passed away with family by her side after a long journey battling cancer.
She is survived by her daughter Debbie (Dennis), her son Richard; grandchildren Michelle, Kayla, Nico (Acksanna), Brittany (Adam) and Jackie; great-grandchildren Amari, Ronan, Allie, Mekhi, Merrick and Santino.
She was predeceased by her husband Fred In 1990, her parents Wasyl and Maggie, sisters Lucy, Rosie, Verli and her brothers Mike, Steve, and Ernest.
Early in their marriage, Fred and Nancy made many car trips to western Canada to visit relatives. Those were always fun times!
Nancy and Fred had lots of friends who would get together to play cards often till early hours of the morning. She loved playing cards; we would play Canasta, Crazy Eights, Whist, Rummoli and lots of Cribbage!
Nancy spent many years ten-pin bowling often twice a week. She was thrilled to participate in a bowling tournament in Reno, Nevada. She enjoyed bowling and golfing up until a few years ago.
She always kept a tidy little garden in the back and would often spend whole days outside gardening and reading. She was very proud of her yard and managed it herself.
She enjoyed watching football games and was usually the only one in the house cheering on the Saskatchewan Roughriders.
She was happiest when the grandkids would stop by for some homemade soup or pierogies, always getting a container to take home with them. Often they would share a drink and lots of laughs with her.
Nancy was a mentor, confidante and caring friend to us all and she will be greatly missed.
We want to thank the amazing people at Jocelyn House Hospice who cared for Mom like she was family.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to Jocelyn House, 177 Egerton Road.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at the Cropo Funeral Chapel – Transcona, 1800 Day Street on Friday, April 11, 2025 at 10:00 a.m.
