Obituary of DEBBIE SLOBODIAN
DEBBIE SLOBODIAN (nee MARLOWE)
Peacefully, on Saturday, March 15th, 2025 in the comfort of her home, my loving mother and best friend passed away at the age of 65 after a year long battle with small cell lung cancer.
Mom is survived by her daughter Alanna, as well as numerous cousins, friends and extended family.
Mom was born July 3, 1959 to Natalie and Paul Marlowe, and grew up in Winnipeg in East Kildonan. Mom will best be remembered for her compassion and love and she was everyone's "Momma Deb". Even if you were meeting her for the first time, she welcomed you like family. She was most happy when spending time in nature, particularly Winnipeg Beach, Lake of the Woods and visting the mountains in Alberta and BC when she was able to visit her brother, Hugh Marlen, and numerous cousins, aunts and uncles. She loved planting flowers at our apartment building and tended to them daily with love and care. Music made her soul sing and many people will remember her dancing and smiling the night away.
She showed such courage and determination confronting many health problems over the years, never complaining and always smiling. Mom never thought of her own hardships, but only of others well being. Mom was a very kind hearted woman; a warm, unselfish, loving person. She was the epitome of unconditional love. We are all blessed to have had her in our lives and she will be greatly missed. Your words of wisdom and courage,
I will always cherish, Mom.
I wish to thank moms Palliative Care team, especially Anita (you were a gift from God during this hard time), Ward RR6 at the Health Sciences Centre and CancerCare for all their help, support and compassion. Special thanks to family members and close friends for visiting Mom in her last few days and for all their love and support.
In accordance with Moms wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no formal service to follow. Donations may be made in Debbie's memory to CancerCare Manitoba or the Manitoba Lung Association.
Mom You always did your best, Your heart was true and tender, You lived your life for those you loved and those you love will remember. It is because of you that I have become who I am. From you I began and for this I will always be grateful.
Love you up to the moon and back my Angel. Rest in Paradise.
