Obituary of FRANCES JOY COTTON
Family of Joy Cotton is saddened to announce her passing on Tuesday, February 25, 2025 at the age of 89.
Joy was predeceased by her husband, parents, bother, sisters, bothers and sisters in-law.
Left to cherish her memories are: her daughter Melony Martens; son Richard Cotton, Michelle and Tony McGill; grandchildren, Jeffery Martens, Shireen Cotton, Monique and Kathryn Zacharko, Meghan and Michael Atherton, great grandchildren William Martens, Jonathan and Emily Atherton, and extended family and friends.
Born and raised in Swan Valley, Manitoba. Married Lyle Cotton August 1957. After attending Normal School, Joy worked as a primary school teacher while raising her family. Later years she enjoyed being a tour escort which aligned with her passion for travel. She also shared her caring and enthusiastic spirit with her travel groups.
Joy had a great gift for many lifelong friendships. Her spontaneous nature meant she was usually up for whatever adventure life brought her way.
Joy's final wish was to be cremated and have her ashes scattered where she grew up. Celebration of life to follow in the summer in Swan River.
