Obituary of IRWIN DEMERIA

It is with heavy hearts we announce Irwin Grant Demeria passed away on Tuesday, February 18 at St. Boniface hospital at the age of 69 years.

He was predeceased by his father, Melvin; mother, Lilian; brothers, Joe and Lionel; and sister Beverly.

Irwin is survived by his children, Dylan, Lillian, Mark, Micheal and Natia; granddaughter, Alicia; grandsons, Mason, Nicolas and many more grandchildren. He also leaves his brothers Blake, Randy and numerous nieces and nephews

Irwin was born in Winnipeg on September 29, 1955. In 1974 he was the runner up in the Canadian open wrestling championships in Regina, Saskatchewan. He joined the Canadian Air Force in May 1976 and completed training as a Photographic Technician in the Canadian Forces School of Aerospace and Ordnance Engineering in April 1977 where he served his country faithfully. In 1986 he joined the Ironworkers Local 728 in Winnipeg and had a long and storied career as an Ironworker and helped build
Canada to what we all know today. He was a lifelong fan of the Winnipeg Jets and loved to watch hockey.
After an accident at work in Saskatchewan that forced him into an early retirement he spent a lot of his time on his computer gaming and learning about things that piqued his interest.

The family especially thanks the staff of St. Boniface hospital and the WRHA Palliative Care Program for helping take care of him when we couldn’t and being there with him when he passed.
