Obituary of MARY VERONICA VANDERLIP

On January 28, 2025, Mary Veronica Vanderlip passed away at the Grace Hospice, age 77.

Mary was predeceased by her dad George; mom Lily; brothers John, Dennis, Brian and George; nephews Jason, Clayton and Joseph; sisters-in-law Elaine and Darlene; cousin Wendy Winslow.

Mary is survived by her brothers David and Gregory; nephews Dion (Stacey) and their children Robyn, Lindsay and Kyle; nephew Kris; nieces Lori; Michelle and her children Bailey (Alex), Nathen and Luke; Tannis and her children Twylla and Kaylin; Grenville Winslow and his family in Victoria; cousins in England and many friends.

Mary will also be remembered by her second family, Rose Marie, Deanna (Gilbert – deceased), John (Adeline), Marilyn (Henry – deceased), Olive (Orest – deceased), and their families.

Mary attended Florence Nightgale, Lord Nelson, Sisler and Tec Voc Schools. Her first job was at Grain Insurance Brokers for eight years and then with the Provincial Government where she worked in various departments (the last being with Manitoba Health – Provincial Nursing Stations), for 33 years, retiring in June 2007.

Mary enjoyed playing Bingo and Keno at the Casinos; watching the Jets and Blue Bombers on television; and was an avid book reader.

Special thanks to Dr. Christine Duprat, the team of doctors and nurses at Cancer Care Manitoba, especially Dr. Erin Dean who provided excellent care to Mary throughout her long journey; Donna Home Care Aide, and most recently, the wonderful team of nurses at WHRA Palliative Care. Also doctors and nurses at Riverview Health Centre and Grace Hospice. Thanks also go out to Rose Marie for both her moral support and friendship during all of Mary’s health issues.

Funeral will be held on Tuesday, February 4, 2025 at 10:00 am at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street, Winnipeg with Funeral Celebrant Colleen Olafson officiating.
