Obituary of JERRY STEVEN KOTELO
JERRY KOTELO
September 5, 1950 - January 23, 2025
Born to Steve and Ann (Mozel) in Winnipeg, he passed peacefully in his sleep at the age of 74.
Jerry grew up in rural Manitoba, working on the family farm. He graduated from Springfield Collegiate Institute in 1969 and transitioned to getting his trade certification to become a machinist and diesel mechanic for CP Rail in 1975.
He thoroughly enjoyed the outdoors and spending time with his family, having owned many outdoor toys including snowmobiles, boats, sea-doo’s, and fun cars. He could often be found in his favourite place, his shop out back at his home in West St Paul where he would tinker and where friends would drop in for a bolt or tool and a spot of advice, paired with a cold brew.
His summers were often spent camping across Canada and the US or at Toniata in Falcon Lake. Jerry eventually settled into cabin life at Devil’s Gap on Lake of the Woods in Kenora where he lived life to the fullest and built many happy memories with family and friends. He loved travelling and went to many places abroad including Mexico, Portugal, and Venezuela. Later in life, Jerry spent time in Arizona before moving back to Manitoba and settling into an apartment in St. James.
Jerry is survived by his daughter Shannon (Ryan), his former wife Eleanor, sisters Eileen (Darryl) and Chris (Ron), as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, roommate Brenda and is predeceased by his daughter Kimberly.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, March 8, 2025, at Cropo Funeral Chapel on 1800 Day Street, starting at 1 pm until 4 pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family gratefully requests donations to ‘Kim Kotelo Memorial Nursing Award Fund’ at RRC Polytech. Contributions can be made online at www.rrc.ca/fundraising/donate. Please include ‘Kim Kotelo Memorial Nursing Award’ in the comment section.
