Obituary of FRANCES JACULAK

FRANCES JACULAK

(nee Smidt)

April 7, 1922 – March 26, 2018

Peacefully, Frances Jaculak passed away at the Park Manor Care Home, just 12 days short of her 96th birthday.

She was born in Arnaud, Manitoba moving to Winnipeg after marrying Maurice June 1, 1945.

She leaves to mourn her passing son Larry (Bev); daughter Valerie Regelous (Jim); grandchildren, Dallas, Amber, Trevor, Kevin, Amanda, Ryan and Joshua; great-grandchildren, Nicholas, Alyssa, Dylan, Aiden, Keely, Hadley, Alexis, Parker, Jase, Jax, Krew and Archer; brothers, William (Trudy) and Adolf (Gail); daughters-in-law, Heather and Irene; and many nephews and nieces.  She is preceded in death by her husband Maurice; sons, Douglas and Robert; parents, Adolf and Valeria; brother Leon; sisters, Emily, Tillie, Mary and Vickie.

In addition to her role as a house wife, Mom also worked outside the home at Paulin Chambers and catering.  At the age of 58 she took and passed a secretarial course and got a job with Age & Opportunity where she worked until she retired at 65.

In her spare time Mom’s hobbies included knitting, crocheting, needlepoint and sewing.  She loved to play cards and many an evening was spent at the kitchen table playing rummy.  Mom also loved to cook.  When you stopped in to visit you could hardly get your coat off and she was putting out a spread of food for you to eat and you couldn’t leave without her giving you a container of cookies or muffins or other goodies to take home.  If you declined, it was “take it home for the kids”.

She endeared herself to all that knew her through her cheerful disposition and sense of humor.  She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who cherished her family.

The family would like to thank the staff at Park Manor Care for their kindness and compassionate care.

Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated on Monday, April 2nd at 11:00 a.m. at St. Joseph the Worker Parrish, 505 Brewster Street.  Private interment at a later date.

Flowers are gratefully declined.  If family and friends so desire, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, 193 Sherbrook Street or Manitoba Heart and Stroke Foundation, 1379 Kenaston Blvd.
