VERA EILEEN GENEREUX

NEE: DOMINEY

Vera Eileen Genereux of Winnipeg, died peacefully on February 12, 2018 with family by her side at St Boniface Hospital, in the palliative care unit. She was 87.

She was predeceased by her first husband of 35 years, James Young, second husband of 25 years, Roger Genereux, children Derek, Diane and Wayne, granddaughter Chaundra Lynn, parents and 8 of her siblings.

Vera leaves behind her brother, Clyde (Marilyn), children Sharon (Tenis), Brian (Penny), Brenda (Clayton), Chris, David (Holly), and Jennifer (Brad). As well as 18+ grandchildren and 19+ great grandchildren, stepchildren/grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Vera was born in Deer Island Newfoundland where she met her first love, Jim Young (Red).  They later moved to Red Rock Ontario to raise their 9 children.

Vera loved her family first and foremost.  She was very proud of each person and always raving about someone's accomplishments.  She enjoyed cooking, camping, gardening and her soap operas. She lit up when reminiscing about the good old days.  Telling stories from her past and singing songs from her childhood were things everyone loved to hear.  She was a long standing member of the Royal Canadian Legion branch 226 Ladies Auxiliary and enjoyed shuffleboard, darts, curling, bowling, bingo, and any activity involving her family and friends.

In her later years, Vera developed a passion for her computer and social media where she enjoyed many online friendships, right up until the end, she could use her computer better than some people that were half her age.  She was an outgoing person that loved to make people laugh.

She will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by everyone whose heart she touched.

Special thanks to the St Boniface Palliative care team and to every staff member at Misericordia Cornish 2 Interim care unit who made her feel at home during her time there.

In compliance with Vera's wishes, there will be no funeral service.  Cremation has taken place and she will be laid to rest at a later date at Cliffside Cemetery in Nipigon Ontario.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Misericordia Cornish 2 interim care unit at the Misericordia Health Care Unit 99 Cornish Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3C1A2
