Obituary of ELIZABETH EVA O'DRISCOLL

ELIZABETH EVA O'DRISCOLL

It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of our beloved mother and grandmother at her home on Friday, January 12th.

She was pre deceased by her husband, Michael in August of 2013. Left to cherish her memory are Maureen Dech (Steve),children Ryan, Kyle and Travis.  Colleen Krisko (Greg), children Cameron (Karlie), Cole and Carson.  Jeff (Mila),children Marco and Nia and numerous nieces and nephews.

Libby was born in Poplarfield, Manitoba on January 9th, 1937 to Philip and Dora Klowak. She was the youngest of 5 children. Her childhood was spent on the farm. When she was older, she moved to Winnipeg with her sister Kay. While working as a secretary at Cochrane and Stevenson, she met her husband Michael.  They were married in October of 1962 and celebrated 50 years of marriage prior to Michael’s passing.

Mom stayed home to raise our family. We spent many summers at Winnipeg Beach, picnics at Bird’s Hill Park, business trips with our dad and two great trips to Disneyworld. Once we were older, mom took a job at Sears, working in the children’s department.  She retired from Sears later in life. She was a great fan of the Winnipeg Jets and Winnipeg Blue Bombers and never missed a televised game.

Mom was the best cook in the world!  Her desserts were famous amongst friends and family in the community. She loved to have us all over on Sundays for her delicious meals. When her grandchildren came along she was on top of the world. She cherished every moment with them and spoiled them all. She was their biggest cheerleader no matter what they were pursuing. Mom enjoyed crocheting and knitting and loved to make cloths and scrubbies which she gave away as gifts. She was always kind and generous to everyone she met.  Many friends and associates were invited over for her famous perogies. If you couldn’t make it, she would always send along a “care package.”

Mom was a devoted member of St. Anthony’s Parish for over 50 years; serving on many committees. She was a long standing member of the Catholic Women’s League.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, January 19th, 2018 at 10:30 am at St. Anthony of Padua Roman Catholic Church, 250 Burrin Ave., Winnipeg with Fr. Dominic Yuen officiating.
