Obituary of MILLIE KOPECKY

Millie (Slepicka) Kopecky It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our dearly beloved Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother and Great-Great Grandmother at the age of 94 years on March 14, 2017. Left to cherish her memory is her loving family, children; Ester (Lawrence) Morris, Steve (Jan) Kopecky, Betty (Jerry) Kotyk, Edith (Earl) Davis, Danny (Dixie) Kopecky, Brant (Lori) Kopecky, 18 grandchildren,26 great grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Waclav, her daughter, Ruth (Bob) Boyachek, and son, Russell (Gwen) Kopecky, her parents Antonin and Anna Slepicka, brother Walter (Olga) Slepicka, and sisters Mary (Walter) Dushanek, and Sylvia (Tom) Nemetchek. Mom was born in Mirotyne, Poland on February 5th, L923. She came to Canada with her parents and siblings in October, 1938 at the age of 15. She and Waclav married on December 23, 1943. Mom and Dad took up farming in Renwer, Manitoba, where she lived until August, 2009. Mom developed a great interest in crocheting. She made many doilies, hats, baskets, Christmas ornaments, slippers and towels. We all have some! She loved growing a wonderful vegetable garden and she had flower gardens all over her yard. She always had extra vegetables to share with family and friends. Mom was a generous, kind, loving person who worked hard and cooked some amazing large meals. She also had a love for animals and birds, especially her humming birds that come every spring. More and more feeders were put out every year. She kept the sugar factory in business. Mom had a deep faith in Jesus Christ. Her Bible was always beside her. She met every challenge life threw at her with a spirit of goodwill and attitude of determination, and an inexhaustible reserve of humour. These attributes would see her through turbulent times. She always tried to do more than she knew she was capable of. The family would like to thank the staff at the Middlechurch Home of Winnipeg for their loving care. A celebration of Millie's Life will be held on Saturday March 18, 2017 at 11:00 am at the Swan Valley Funeral Chapel in Swan River, MB. A private interment will follow on Monday March 20, 2017 at The Minitonas Heritage Cemetery near the Town of Minitonas, MB. lf so desired, memorial contributions may be made to the Manitoba Heart and Stroke Foundation.
