Obituary of LUIS MONTEIRO DA SILVA

LUIS MONTEIRO DA SILVA It is with deepest sorrow we announce the sudden passing of Luis Monteiro da Silva on Sunday, February 19, 2017, at the age of 68. He was a beloved husband, brother, father, grandfather, and friend. He is survived by his wife Lurdes; children José (Francine) and Sara (Carmelo); grandchildren Katrina (Darian), Angelina and Lorenzo; and brothers Anastácio (Maria) and Sebastião (Gracinda). Luis immigrated to Canada from Portugal with his wife and son José in 1975 and had their daughter Sara 8 years later. Luis worked as a welder for 25 years while living in Winnipeg, Canada to support his family and took great pride in his work. He loved his grandchildren very much and they became the center of his world. Luis enjoyed taking part in the Portuguese community of Winnipeg, by attending events and being with people from the community. You could also often find him at his local sports club having a coffee, playing his favorite card game and watching his soccer team Sporting. Luis will be profoundly missed and never forgotten. The Silva family would like to thank extended family, friends and the community for their prayers and support shown during their loss. Agradecemos o Amor que você foi na nossa vida e ficarás sempre nos nossos corações. Descança em páz. Até à próxima vêz que nos encontramos. Prayers (Thursday, March 2, 2017 at 8:00 p.m.) and Mass of Christian Burial (Friday, March 3, 2017 at 10:00 a.m.) will be held at Immaculate Conception Church, 181 Austin Street North. Interment will follow the Mass at Assumption Roman Catholic Cemetery, 3990 Portage Avenue.
