Obituary of EVANGELINE (WANDA) WERBOWSKI

EVANGELINE (WANDA) WERBOWSKI On Sunday, February 5, 2017 at the Grace Hospital, Evangeline (Wanda) Werbowski, beloved wife, mother and grandmother passed away peacefully in her sleep at the age of 81 years. Besides her loving husband of 62 years Paul, she is survived by her daughter Paula Macek (Ralf) and her son Andrew (Michelle) of Oakville, Ontario. Wanda is also survived by her grandchildren Bryce, Brynn, Brooks (fiancée Lauren) and Bret Macek and Lara and Drew Werbowski. She also leaves to mourn her passing niece Cindy Werbowski of Maple Ridge, B.C. and Greg Werbowski of North Vancouver, B.C. Wanda was born in Winnipeg and attended St. John's High School, where she excelled in track and field, graduating in 1952. She worked for several years at the Medical Arts Building as a medical secretary for Dr. Fred DuVal and Dr. Charlie Burns. Wanda was a force of nature. She was a vibrant, caring and dynamic woman who loved to garden, sew, knit, cook and bake. Her shopping excursions are legendary. She set high standards for herself and others, loved to entertain at family celebrations and was truly "the original Martha Stewart". Wanda, however, reserved her greatest passion for her family. She and Paul were devoted life partners throughout their 62 years of marriage. She was fiercely proud of her children and grandchildren and would run through a brick wall for any of them. She was an avid sports fan who spent many days at the rink vigourously cheering on her grandchildren. Her wise advice will long be remembered: "Do it now, while you can". Paul would like to acknowledge and thank his son-in-law Dr. Ralf Macek for his constant attention and compassionate care as well as his immediate family for their love and support. A private service was held on Thursday, February 9, 2017 at Cropo Funeral Chapel. If friends so desire, donations in Wanda’s memory may be made to the Manitoba Alzheimer's Society.
