Obituary of ERIC PETER BRENNAN

ERIC PETER BRENNAN August 9, 1950 – February 8, 2017 After a lengthy hospital stay, Eric passed away peacefully at Riverview Health Centre. Eric was predeceased by his parents Gordon and Margaret Brennan. He is survived by his two beloved sons Ryan and Anthony of Winnipeg and sister Mandy of BC. Eric had two passions that he excelled at; ballroom dancing and computers. He had a superb handle on technology, software, kinetics and body mechanics. Eric was an internationally certified ballroom instructor to Silver Level. In the 1980- 1990’s he produced and starred in his own TV Show which reached a wider audience in the art of ballroom dancing; as well he conducted dance classes at U of M over 3 decades. Eric won the marathon jive world record in the 70’s. Being easily recognizable it was common for people to approach him to acknowledge his prowess in dancing. He had exceptional talent and to dance with him was a treasure. Eric was a member of the St. James Royal Canadian Legion where he regularly attended their social/dance functions. The ladies loved dancing with him. At a very young age he had an acrobat show which was choreographed by him. Eric thrived on challenges, competitions, and showmanship. Eric wished to sincerely thank the staff at Prime Program (Misericordia Centre) for their outstanding care. He attended Prime regularly to socialize and above all received prompt nursing and medical care which he required. As his health declined, this care kept him at home longer in stable condition. He valued the special 19 yearlong friendship with Krystina and for the support and care she provided together with his devoted friends Gerry and Debbie. Eric had a great zest for life in spite of his many health challenges and was blessed with many loyal and long-time friends. In keeping with Eric’s wishes, no formal service will be held. A small gathering of family and friends is planned in spring in his honour. He left us too early – we will miss him!! Donations may be made in Eric’s memory to the Kidney Foundation of Canada or Canadian Liver Foundation, Manitoba Chapter.
