ANNE ZAPPE

Obituary of ANNE ZAPPE

ANNE ZAPPE On February 1, 2017, it is with great sadness the family announces the peaceful passing of their mother and grandmother, Anne at the age of 103 years. Anne is survived by her loving son John (Sharon); granddaughters Andrea, Alissa (Attila); nieces Pat, Jo-Anne and nephew Ted. She was predeceased by her husband Walter in 1959; her parents Josaphat and Parascevia Ostapiw; sisters-in-law Mary and Anne; brothers-in-law Ted and Joe. Anne was born in Winnipeg and grew up in East Kildonan and attended St. Alphonsus School. She married Walter in 1937 and lived in North End for most of her life. Many happy years were spent with her husband building their log cottage at Ingolf, Ontario. Anne was widowed at age 46, raised her young son and was a devoted daughter who cared for her parents until their passing. With Anne’s strong will, determination and independence, she lived in her own home until 96 years. Due to many serious falls and long hospital stays, she moved to Devonshire Assisted Living for 2 years and then to St. Joseph’s Residence where she lived for her remaining 5 1/2 years. Anne was loved by all, touched many lives, was a very special Baba to many, taught us to keep on going and never give up. Throughout her life, Anne was actively involved in her church, St. Joseph’s Parish and the U.C.W.L. Family time was very important to Mom and we all cherished her Sunday dinners with her great cooking and baking. Her specialty being blueberry pie. Anne had an artistic flair for floral designing, needlepoint, decoupage and Ukrainian embroidery. After Anne retired, she travelled extensively to Hawaii, Mexico, Bahamas and U.S.A. The family would like to sincerely thank Drs. Terry and Andrea Babick and the Unit 2 staff at St. Joseph’s Residence for their loving care. A special thank you to Anne’s friends and companions Darlene and Phyllis for their compassion, love and care. A celebration of Anne’s life will be held on Tuesday, February 7, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street with Rev. Fr. Frank Szadiak, CSsR. officiating. Interment to follow. If so desired, donations may be made in Anne’s memory to Friends of St. Joseph’s c/o St. Joseph’s Residence, 1149 Leila Avenue, Winnipeg MB R2P 1S6. VICHNAYA PAM’YAT
