Obituary of Maurice SKALESKY

MAURICE SKALESKY March 19, 1927 - July 25, 2008 Suddenly on the morning of Friday, July 25, 2008, Maurice Skalesky passed away at Concordia Hospital. He leaves to mourn his loving wife Myra, two sons, Frankie (Steinbach), Jamie (Diane), and granddaughter (Trina) of Sudbury, Ontario. He is also survived by sisters Olga Fitkowsky, Mary Kalawarny (George), and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by parents John and Mary, twin brother Joseph, brothers Paul and Fred, sisters Jean Cormie and Pearl McLennan. Born in St. Norbert, Manitoba on March 19, 1927, Maurice grew up working on the family farm as a market gardener. He left the farm in the early 1950s pursuing a variety of jobs until he settled in Fort William, Ontario. He worked in the pulp and paper industry for many years, and also took pleasure from the physical demands of landscaping in his spare time while there. In 1972 he returned home to Winnipeg, and enjoyed a position with Cambrian Equipment which he held until he retired at the age of 65. Always with a story to tell, and always a big heart with which to listen Maurice lived his life to the fullest. He will be sadly missed by all those whose life he touched. A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, July 31 at 10:00 a.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street. Interment to follow in Glen Eden Memorial Gardens.
