Obituary of Mary SIKORA

MARY VICTORIA SIKORA (nee SKIBA) It is with deep sorrow that the family of Mary Sikora announces her passing on June 3, 2008 at the Middlechurch Home of Winnipeg. Mary was born January 3, 1921 in Barysz, Buczacz, Poland to Michael and Victoria Skiba. In 1929, she immigrated to Canada with her mother, stepfather Stephen Ryma and her three brothers and one sister. She was raised on the family farm just outside of Fosston, Saskatchewan before moving to Yorkton, and eventually to Winnipeg, where she met her knight in shinning armour, Walter Sikora. They were married in 1957 and had two sons, Edward and Felix. Mary had many talents. She worked hard as a seamstress and at raising her family. Religion was the foundation of Mary's life, and she was a devoted member of St Anthony of Padua Church. She enjoyed many hobbies including gardening, crocheting, her creations in plastic canvas, and of course, singing. She will always be remembered for her rousing choruses of 'You Are My Sunshine'. She was predeceased by her ever-loving husband, Walter, her brothers Jan Skiba , Joe (Stella) Skiba, John Ryma and Mike Ryma. She leaves in mourning her sons Edward and Felix (D'Anna), grandchildren Vanessa and Andrew, brother Ed Ryma (Vivian), sisters Anne Kryzanowski, Kay Fabian, Sophie Kendall (Don), sisters-in-law Maria Skiba, Kay Ryma, and Vi Ryma, numerous nieces, nephews, her extended family, the Routleys, and many friends and neighbors. The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to the staff of Middlechurch Home, and everyone on B2 for the outstanding care and friendship they provided Mary. Prayers will be said on Friday, June 6 at 7:00 at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. Mass of Christian Burial is to be held at 10:00 am, Saturday June 7 at St Anthony of Padua Church, 250 Burrin Ave. Interment will follow in Glen Eden Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Middlechurch Home of Winnipeg Renovation Fund, 280 Balderstone Rd, West St Paul, MB.
