Obituary of Percival HUFFMAN

PERCIVAL KNOX (PETER) HUFFMAN Peter died peacefully on Thursday, July 17, 2008 at Deer Lodge Centre. Peter was born in London England in 1925, and enlisted as a Canadian volunteer in the British Army from 1943 - 1948, serving with the Middle East Land Forces in Palestine. He was released from the Kings Royal Rifle Corps in 1948, and granted the honorary rank of Captain in 1949. He returned to Canada in 1953 at the age of 28, after working as a mining assistant and chief accountant in Ghana and the Sudan. Peter's military service continued from 1953 - 1965 when he attained the rank of Major while serving in the Canadian Militia, with continuous Army duty in Calgary from 1961 - 1962. He moved to Winnipeg in 1964, where he joined the Winnipeg Commodity Exchange, and subsequently served as Vice President of Administration, Secretary-Treasurer, and Governor, retiring in 1990 as Director of Special Projects and Advisor to the Board. He will be missed by his children, relatives and friends. Cremation has taken place, and there will be no formal service.
