Obituary of Reginald Bergen

Reginald Henry Bergen "When someone you love becomes a memory, that memory becomes a treasure." After a brief but courageous battle with cancer, Reg Bergen passed away peacefully at the age of 53, on June 16, 2008 at home with his family by his side, as had been his wish. He leaves to mourn his loving wife Judy, children Ryan and Lindsey (Kyle Dempsey), Judy's parents Jake and Tina Penner, his sister Judy (Alvin) Pauls, brothers Don (Joyce), Vern (Darlene) Bergen, and brother-in-law Ron. He is also survived by many special nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by his parents Henry and Anne Bergen. Reg was born on September 9, 1954 in Winkler, MB. After many years in Winkler he moved to Winnipeg, where he began work at The Sounding Stone. He met and married, Judy Penner, the love of his life, on June 20, 1982. He continued on to Crosstown Civic Credit Union, where he served as loans and branch manager for over 20 years. One of his greatest loves was baseball, playing the game, watching and encouraging his children. Special thanks to Clarence and Tena Epp, Dr. Czaykowski, and nurses Denise and Carrie. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 18 from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, June 19 at 10:00 a.m. at Home Street Mennonite Church, 318 Home St., with interment in Mennonite Memorial Gardens. In Lieu of flowers donations may be made in Reg's memory to CancerCare Manitoba.
